As the son of a cybersecurity architect and an early childhood educator, Douglas Henry Lewis Jr. spent most of his childhood primarily around computer servers, perusing arts and crafts materials, and amassing large amounts of printer paper in rural North Carolina. Having attended a private academy from pre-school until the second grade, Douglas’ familiarity with self-expression via clothing developed early due to a strict uniform of white collared shirts and blue, black, or khaki trousers aside from the occasional “dress out” days. A gravitational pull towards the decorative arts was homegrown with frequent visits to museums and cultural institutions and assisting with home events. Douglas’ greatest inspiration for personal style is his eccentric paternal grandparents: Dr. Addessa Lewis (a former college administrator who brought her “sidekick” with her to homecoming parades at Historically Black Colleges/Universities) and the late Alfrus Cooke (a Navy veteran, chef, fisherman, and native New Yorker who instilled a metropolitan edge upon him since the age of 5).
As he matriculated throughout grade school and university, Lewis immersed himself in creative pursuits: producing fashion shows, organizing miniature art exhibitions, participating in theatre, and contributing to the school newspapers. While obtaining a rigorous Business degree from North Carolina A&T State University, he interned for local vintage stores. In addition, he co-founded an online journal entitled “The Style Conquest of Lewis and Bull” to attend various market events and review the collections. Immediately after graduating, Douglas became the Fashion Editor for BOND OFFICIAL. After a decade of preparation, he also achieved his dream of working for New York’s legendary luxury retailer Bergdorf Goodman. Since the days of HTML coding on MySpace, endless re-blogging on Tumblr, and browsing on LOOKBOOK.nu, his desire to craft a unique online presence has always existed. His featured freelance works include a combination of editorial image-making juxtaposed with writing on contemporary art, design, lifestyle, and philosophy.
He now identifies as an educator, curator, and storyteller (griot) grounded in Taoist philosophy and Human Design alignment. A 4/6 Splenic Projector, he creates content that is both intuitive and archival, drawing from personal lived experience to guide others through beauty, sound, and stillness. His projects include Garden of Tao, a daily visual archive of nature-based serenity, and his YouTube Channel unveiling his vault of stylistic and ancestral memory. His work is rooted in soft power — not performance — and his calling is to explore, guide, and educate across cultures. With a background in journalism, styling, and education, Douglas now channels his full creative flow into short-form visual storytelling via YouTube and Instagram, aligned with funded travel, educational programming, and global creative residencies. His teaching is lived. His content is curated clarity. His mission is to share the sacred through simplicity.
