About Mister Lewis…
As the son of a cybersecurity architect and an early childhood educator, I spent most of my childhood primarily around computer servers, perusing arts and crafts materials, and amassing large amounts of printer paper in rural North Carolina. Having attended a private academy from pre-school until the second grade, my familiarity with self-expression via clothing developed early due to a strict uniform of white collared shirts and blue, black, or khaki trousers aside from the occasional “dress out” days. A gravitational pull towards the decorative arts was homegrown with frequent visits to museums and cultural institutions and assisting with home events. My greatest inspiration for personal style are my eccentric paternal grandparents: Dr. Addessa Lewis (a former college administrator who brought her “sidekick” with her to homecoming parades at Historically Black Colleges/Universities) and the late Alfrus Cooke (a Navy veteran, chef, fisherman, and native New Yorker who instilled a metropolitan edge upon him since the age of 5). As I matriculated throughout grade school and university, I immersed myself in creative pursuits: producing fashion shows, organizing miniature art exhibitions, participating in theatre, and contributing to the school newspapers. While obtaining a rigorous Business degree from North Carolina A&T State University, I also interned for local vintage stores.
In addition, I co-founded an online journal entitled “The Style Conquest of Lewis and Bull” to attend various market events and review the collections. Immediately after graduating, I became the Fashion Editor for BOND OFFICIAL. After a decade of preparation, I also achieved my dream of working as a Docent for New York’s legendary luxury retailer Bergdorf Goodman under the mentorship of the late author and personal shopper Betty Halbreich. Since the days of HTML coding, endless re-blogging on Tumblr, and browsing on LOOKBOOK.nu, my desire to craft a unique online presence has always existed. My featured freelance works include a combination of image-making juxtaposed with writing on contemporary art, design, lifestyle, and philosophy. I now identify as an educator, coach, and storyteller (griot). I draw from personal lived experience to guide others through beauty, sound, and stillness via short-form digital storytelling on TikTok and Instagram, among other global ventures. My ultimate goal is to guide and help others unlock their unique creative power.
