Daniel Hechter Paris' Spring/Summer 2018 presentation happened during the first slot of New York Men's Day on July 10th, 2017 at Dune Studios. Needless to say, the collection stayed true to its roots in the city of light. The French fashion brand was born in Paris in 1962 with a mission: “to make premium fashion accessible to all and to be appropriated according to one's desires.”
The brand’s overall intention is to “ensure that style accompanies their customers in their hectic lives by combining in the collections the latest generations of technology for a contemporary and easy-to-live-with fashion.”
However, the brand did a simultaneously excellent job of paying tribute to the grit and go-getter attitude that resonates effortlessly from the city streets of New York. Every single one of the models wore the iconic Adidas Stan Smith's with the navy blue backs. They looked as if they were ready to get down to business, which in Manhattan, is necessary for success as New Yorkers are always on the move.
The collection maintained a wearability that will appeal to customers from all over the globe, although there is a clear New York metropolitan cool mixed with a clean and chic Parisian edge. The brand’s olive green peacoat is perfect for transitioning from day and night with style.
While navigating such large metropolitan cities as Paris and New York, or anywhere: a great look must start with a strong base. Daniel Hechter Paris offers streamlined sweaters in neutral tones, with cargo pants that can be filtered in your looks all throughout the year.
Daniel Hechter Paris’ clothes possessed a utilitarian quality to them without compromising the French chic of the brand. The clothes featured smart and neutral pea coats along with namesake sweaters and chinos to wear throughout the year. My favorite pieces by far were the chambray suit and the navy leather bomber jacket. One could easily incorporate both of these pieces into their closet and dress them up in white shirts, black oxford shoes, and smart accessories to bring everything full circle.
